I am on a mission to help the world become a better place one person and one relationship at a time by helping you improve your life and your relationships.  Why, you might ask, is that my mission?

How am I qualified to help you?

For 17 years, I have worked with individuals and couples to help them create more fulfilling lives and closer relationships. Initially, I worked solely as a licensed professional counselor, and I’m currently licensed in both California and Texas. In the last several years, I’ve added helping individuals as a relationship and life coach, and am now also a Board Certified Coach.  If you want to know more about the differences between coaching and therapy and why I now offer both services, please visit the Resources tab.

Specific to relationship coaching & counseling, I have been trained in and have experience applying both the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples.  These are considered key and effective methodologies for working with couples in therapy.  I adapt their use to a relationship coaching approach, which is more unstructured, collaborative, and goal-oriented.

Here’s what I know about the world today.  Lots of studies proclaim that there is a global loneliness pandemic.  Divorce statistics continue to be high, causing disruptions of families, mental health concerns and financial struggles.  Studies show that the number of people who have close friendships has declined significantly over the last decade.  At the same time, anxiety and depression exist in double digits and suicide is one of the leading causes of death in our country. The statistics around domestic violence and relationship abuse are not any rosier. On the work front, almost half of employees in the US are dissatisfied with their jobs.

So, what does all of this have to do with working with a coach or a counselor?  People can weather the storms of life, grow in positive ways, be more authentic, and meet their goals when they feel heard and supported. In addition, men and women who maintain strong and meaningful relationships have reduced stress, lower rates of anxiety and depression and better overall mental health outcomes. You can add to that list higher self-esteem, stronger immune systems, longer life spans, and happier lives.  These are not just opinions but the result of many research studies over several years.

What can you expect from our work together?

I will provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you either as part of a couple or individually. From this space, we’ll explore what matters in your life and relationships and how to get there. Together, we will discover who you are as a person, how you show up in relationships and life in general, and then gain clarity about what is working and where you’d like to see changes. To effect change we will look at appropriate and realistic tools and strategies you can use.

My experience as a coach, counselor, and business professional often provides a fresh perspective that my clients find helpful in their goal-seeking journeys.

Always, my number one goal is for you to feel safe, seen, heard, and understood in our sessions.  This environment will allow you to gain the clarity, internal strength, and ability to create and maintain the meaningful changes needed to live a better life, the one you dream of having.

“Change is painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.”

What my Clients Say…

Sharon has been a great mentor in my journey - our sessions helped me create structure in my thoughts, disentangle difficult emotions and re-focus on areas of life that are important to me. Working with her has truly been one of the best decisions I have made for myself. MC

Sharon has been instrumental in my ability to cope with the ever-changing landscape that was the global pandemic. I started working with Sharon in 2020 when I was struggling to manage my anxiety related to my health in the throws of a global pandemic. Sharon and I have done a lot of work on unpacking not only my health anxiety but discovering things in my past that impact my current life. She is so kind and listens to understand/support versus to diagnose. Sharon gives input where she feels it's necessary but lets me just talk/process, which as an outward process, I appreciate. Sharon truly cares about her clients and caters her approach to their needs, which has really helped me. I don't know if I would've made it through the pandemic without her help and I look forward to continuing to work with Sharon as long as she'll have me! Laura G.

I cannot express enough how grateful my spouse and I are for Sharon's amazing coaching/counseling services. From the moment we first met Sharon, we knew we were in good hands. She approached our sessions with compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to help us work through our struggles and strengthen our marriage.

Sharon has an incredible ability to listen intently and really understand where each of us is coming from. Her natural warmth and patience have made it easy for us to be open and honest with her about our thoughts and feelings - even when they aren't always easy to share. She offers an unbiased perspective, and has helped us to see things in new ways that we never would have considered by ourselves.

But what we appreciate the most about Sharon is her unwavering dedication to helping us build the strongest, healthiest relationship possible. She takes the time to get to know us as individuals and as a couple, and tailors her counseling to our unique situation and needs. Her guidance has prompted us to make important changes in our behavior, communication, and overall approach to our relationship. As a result, our marriage is stronger and happier than ever before, which has directly impacted our children's lives and our family unit. For this, we are forever grateful to Sharon.

I can't recommend Sharon enough to anyone seeking help with their relationship, or even life goals. In many ways, she is more like a close friend who is there to support us through any challenge that comes our way. We now see coaching not as a chore or a burden, but as a vital tool for maintaining the health of our relationship. We joke that our monthly sessions are our "date night" because it's that important to us. Thanks to Sharon, we are better parents, better partners, and better people overall. She truly cares about her clients and goes above and beyond to help them succeed. David & Jennifer L.
